I get Inspired
PROJECT OUTLINE (2024)
This project (Deep Dive) is part of the Digital Transformation Programme at the TU Delft Library. In order to make the current Library future proof, a service design team was created to understand and map out all Library's services. A few important services has been selected to redesign and improve the services, one of them was 'I get Inspired'.
DESIGN GOAL
How to provide insights and opportunities to improve the student’s engagement to enhance inspiration in the TU Library environment.
THE OUTCOMES
- What...
Two prototype interventions were created and put in the Main Hall of the Library to enhance university students to get inspired and the Inspiration Program for students was created for the employees at the Library, an useful and efficient scheme for Library employees (Library Learning Center) to plan activities that are aligned with student's schedules. - Why...
Concept interventions were ideated together with TU Delft students and Library staff. This co-creation was chosen this way to involve Library staff from te beginning. Each intervention was put out and evaluated with students and Library staff. Based on the feedback, Library Learning Center staff could continue with inspirational interventions together with the IPS. - How...
By providing an overview of the best timing for the Library Learning Center staff to start activities and interventions that aligns with students schedules, while knowing when students have exams, holiday and classes. Students come to the Library mainly to study when there are no classes or when there are upcoming examinations. Library staff can use this known student schedule to implement inspirational activities in the Library Main Hall.
My contribution
During this 6 month Deep Dive, I was the project lead. The contributions I want to highlight were:
- Organising and creating materials for co-creation sessions with students and Library staff
- Ideating and creating the two interventions (Origami activity and Mini Mojo) by use of visual storyboarding and quick prototyping methods
- Working together with the Service Design Team, Library staff and student assistants to plan, execute and evaluate the two interventions
Highlighted Contributions
Find contributions down below that highlights creative, visual and design activities.
Creating visual session materials
Co-creation session with students and Library staff (in total 5 sessions in total) were carefully curated to the session questions and activities.
Origami activity
The first physical intervention was the Origami activity. Students mentioned that they wanted to have short breaks, but still being creative or using their brain differently. This prototype was a huge success with the students.
Mini Mojo
The second intervention called Mini Mojo were small activities lasercutted on wooden cards. With this intervention the idea was for students to explore the Main Hall in fun and playful way. These cards were placed were students frequented. Activities related to knowledge, mindfulness, taking breaks were and community were the most popular.
Inspiration Programme for Students
The IPS was created in order to assist the Library Learning Center Staff to plan these 'mode shifting' activities during the year.
