Why I Love Cherry Blossoms in Spring 🌸

[5-7 min read]
Hello friends! 🌸

You might not know, I'm absolutely obsessed with cherry blossoms. As soon as the first tiny blooms start appearing in early spring, I get that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. It's like the world whispers: "Hey, winter's over. It's time for spring again."

In this blog post, I want to share why cherry blossoms mean so much to me, and how they inspire my drawings—especially this month as I take on the #fairickapril drawing challenge. Expect lots of pink, petals, and peaceful vibes!

The Message of Spring: A New Beginning

There’s something magical about that first sighting of cherry blossoms. Their soft pink and white petals feel like nature’s confetti, thrown in celebration of spring. For me, they’re not just beautiful—they’re symbolic. Cherry blossoms remind me that no matter how cold or dark winter felt, spring always comes back. It might be late. It might take its time. But it returns.

And with it comes a sense of renewal. I always feel a fresh wave of creativity when spring arrives. Like I want to clean my workspace, take longer walks, open the windows, and of course, draw! Cherry blossoms are often the first thing I want to sketch when that spring energy kicks in. They're a soft yet powerful reminder to begin again.

The Beauty in Fleeting Things

One of the reasons cherry blossoms are so precious is because they don’t last long. Sometimes just a week or two, depending on the weather. Their beauty is fleeting, and I think that’s part of their magic.

When I see them, I want to pause and soak it in. It’s like the universe is saying: "Slow down. Appreciate this moment before it's gone." And isn’t that such a gentle life lesson? Not everything has to last forever to be meaningful. Some things are beautiful because they are brief.

Drawing cherry blossoms also helps me remember that. I can look back on my art and think, "Yes, I captured that feeling." Even if the real petals have fallen, the memory and mood stay alive on paper.

Drawing Cherry Blossoms for #fairickapril

This month, I’m participating in the #fairickapril drawing challenge, and you guessed it—I’ll be trying to draw some cherry blossoms. I want to explore them in different ways: soft and dreamy, bold and magical, maybe even with fairies or forest creatures.

For me, this challenge is not just about improving my skills or finishing prompts. It’s about creating space for joy. Drawing cherry blossoms, flowers and nature is my way of welcoming spring with open arms, of saying thank you to nature for returning with color and light.

If you’re following along the challenge, I hope you enjoy the petal-filled journey with me. And if you’ve never drawn cherry blossoms before, maybe this is your sign to give it a try. It’s oddly soothing to sketch those gentle shapes and soft colors.

Thanks for reading this little love letter to cherry blossoms! Whether you're seeing them in real life or in your Instagram feed, I hope they bring you a sense of peace and possibility.

Have a blossomy, magical April! 🌸

Love,
Lina
