On Saturday morning (March 15th), I stepped into the very first edition of the Rotterdam Illustration Festival held at the location called Roodkapje, not quite knowing what to expect. As an illustrator, I’m always looking for inspiration, and this event turned out to be a treasure trove of creativity. From unique artworks to insightful talks, it was an experience that left me feeling motivated and excited about my own creative journey with lilalicreates!
First Impressions: A Creative Atmosphere ⭐️
The moment I walked in, I could feel the buzz of creativity. The venue was filled with illustrators, art lovers, and curious visitors, all eager to explore the world of illustration. The setup was warm and inviting, with artist booths showcasing prints, zines, and original artworks. Seeing so many different styles and techniques in one space was already inspiring in itself!
Highlights of the Festival 💜
One of the best parts of the festival was discovering new artists and their work. I was especially drawn to [insert artist’s name]’s illustrations, which had a whimsical, colorful yet thoughtful touch. Their use of color and storytelling really resonated with me.
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend a talk at the Rotterdam Illustration Festival, but I'm already looking forward the next edition! Where I'll be able to join for a longer period of time!
How the Festival Inspired Me 💕
After spending the morning surrounded by so much talent and passion, I left the festival feeling reinvigorated. It reminded me why I love illustration in the first place—the ability to tell stories, evoke emotions, and bring joy through art.
I also realized how important it is to connect with other creatives. Seeing different approaches to illustration made me want to experiment more in my own work, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.
Will I Go Again? Absolutely! ✨
For a first edition, the Rotterdam Illustration Festival was a huge success in my opinion. It brought together a wonderful community of artists and art lovers, creating an inspiring space for everyone involved. I can’t wait to see how the festival grows in the coming years!
If you’re passionate about illustration or just love discovering new art, I highly recommend visiting next time. Have you ever been to an illustration festival? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear about your experience!
